Thoroughly bored with a lucrative family business, and spurred
on by a fit of rebellion, young Tod embarked down that seldom
traveled, but certainly adventuress road of Wallcovering Installation.
The
year; 1974. Inspired and Influenced by nun-other than Plunket
Fleeson, the American pioneer of modern wallpaper manufacturing
(1739) and his French counterpart Jean-Michel Papillon (1675),
Tod quickly acquired the skills and artistry that has served him
well to this day. He is now considered a giant in the industry
(amongst a small, but well paid group of wastrels).
He inspires himself and certainly his crew with a daily quote
from the 16th century Buddhist Philosopher ‘Mohammad Noodleman’,
“You can’t fly through the eye of a needle with an
un-ironed shirt”. This steels the men for the task at
hand (not unlike a battle-cry) and insures a positive outcome
for the
day ahead.

Non-traditional:
-
We are experts in the installation of 'high end' goods --
custom ordered hand painted silks from China by companies
such as 'de Gournay', and 'Gracie'.
'Archival' installations: Antique wallcovering hung over muslin and blank stock, able to be removed, intact, at a later date if so desired.
We are able to replicate the 'antique oriental look' by hand painting our own paper for a custom installation.
Hand-painted artist canvas installed on ceilings, walls, and inside of domes.
Over the past few years we have added to our repertoire:
THE GREAT WALL is a member of the "National Guild of Professional
Paperhangers".
